THE NATIONAL
EXECUTIVE COUNCIL
The institute is governed by
an Executive Council as per tits constitution
COMPOSITION
OF THE COUNCIL
6. The Council
is made up of at least 19 members out of which the following
national officers are elected to serve for a term of two
years:
a. The
National President
b. The
First National Vice-President
c. The
Second National Vice-President
d. The
National Treasurer.
7. The National
President is the chief officer in charge of the general
management of the affairs of the Institute, and the duties
of that office include:
a.
Presiding over all sessions and meetings of the National
Executive Council
b.
Drawing up institutional policy and authorizing national
expenditure
c.
Ensuring the proper and effective implementation of the
Institute’s policies and regulations
d.
Convening special meetings of the National Executive Council
and overseeing the appointment of personnel and committees
needed for running the affairs of the Institute
8. The first and
second National Vice-Presidents assist in the performance of
all the functions and duties of the National President and
assume that office respectively in the temporary absence,
for whatsoever reason, of the National President.
9. The National
Secretary is responsible for keeping proper and adequate
records of all the proceedings and transactions of the
Institute, answering all correspondence to the Institute,
preparing reports and other documentation for and on behalf
of the Institute.
10. The National
Treasurer is responsible for the general financial
administration of the Institute, ensuring the keeping of
proper records of the Institute’s finances and disbursements
in accordance with the relevant policies of the Institute
and all other relevant rules and regulations.
11. The
Districts of the Institute elect representatives onto the
Council as follows:
a. Tema
District – 7 Representatives
b.
Takoradi District – 3 Representatives
c.
Kotoka International Airport District – 4 Representatives
d. Afloa
District – 3 Representatives
e. Elubo
District – 2 Representatives
12. Subject to
the two immediately preceding provisions, the total number
of Councillors at anytime is determined by ordinary
resolution of the members at a general meeting.
13. The
immediate past president of the Council always remain a
member of the Council ex officio for as long as he or she
remains the immediate past president.
POWERS AND
FUNCTIONS OF THE COUNCIL
14. The National
Executive Council, acting directly or indirectly through the
National Officers, have the ultimate authority to take
decisions and make policies affecting the Institute.
15. The National
Officers of the Institute on behalf of the Council exercises
the power to coordinate and centrally manage the affairs of
the Institute.
16. The National
Executive Council exercises all such residual powers of the
Institute, including the powers to borrow money on its
behalf and to mortgage or charge its property, which are not
reserved under the institute's Constitution or the Decree to
any other entity or body of the Institute.
