THE GIFF/FIATA DIPLOMA COURSE IN INTERNATIONAL FREIGHT FORWARDING;
(Leading to the award of the FIATA Diploma in International Freight Forwarding by Vocational Training and Examination)

This course presents a thorough and systematic coverage of Freight Forwarding theory and practice. It covers the general freight forwarding principles applicable in all modes of carriage viz, ocean, road, air, rail etc. The course is covered in 14 modules which are:

- Maritime Transport
- Multimodal Transport
- Sea Containers
- Air Transport
- Road Transport
- Rail Transport
- Inland waterway Transport
- Customs Procedures
- Logistics & Warehousing
- Transport and Liability Insurance
- ICT in Forwarding
- Dangerous Goods
- Safety and Security
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
The course is intended for aspiring middle and top managers in the logistics industry. It is also suitable for those aspiring to enter the freight forwarding profession. The course is open to:
- Licentiate members of the Institute.
- Employees of freight forwarding firms with a minimum of 2 years employment, possessing at least the SSSCE.
- Employees of freight forwarding firms with a University degree or diploma.
Individuals with a degree or diploma from a recognised university intending to embark on a career in freight forwarding.
COURSE DURATION AND FORMAT
The course is in modular format. On successful completion of all requirements, graduates will be awarded the GIFF Diploma in Supply Chain Management. Also, on completion of requisite application forms, the FIATA Higher Diploma in International Freight Forwarding will be issued from FIATA Headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland.
COURSE FORMAT & SCHEDULES
The course is in a modular format.
- Morning Classes will be held from 9.00am – 12.00pm.
- Evening Classes will be held from 5.00pm – 8.00pm on weekdays.
- Weekend Classes will be held on Saturdays from 8.00am – 5.00pm.
Teaching methods are participative, learner centred and collaborative. The program will draw on the rich variety of experience which participants bring as a significant proportion is expected from existing freight forwarding firms in the sub-region.
On successful completion of all requirements of the course, graduates will be awarded the GIFF Higher Diploma in International Freight Forwarding and also the FIATA Diploma in International Freight Forwarding upon completion of requisite forms and a payment of a fee to FIATA.
The course will draw on the rich experience of a core of facilitators who are FIATA certified Trainers. Many of them are chief executives of reputable forwarding and logistics companies in Ghana.
